Regulatory Actions (FINRA & Maryland Securities Regulators) — In September 2025 (Docket/Case No. 2023079960501), FINRA accepted an AWC in which Mr. Lannister consented to findings that he exercised discretion without prior written authorization in two customer accounts and inaccurately answered annual compliance questionnaires. Sanctions: $5,000 fine and two-month suspension (10/06/2025–12/05/2025). In 1/2026 FINRA suspended Lannister indefinitely and Maryland regulators permanently barred him from the industry to resolve allegations that he engaged in excessive and unsuitable trading in customer accounts, including overconcentrating accounts in one or a small number of securities and using inappropriate short term trading strategies.

Customer Disputes

  • Grove Point Investments, LLC: Customer alleged misrepresentation of compensation, unauthorized/discretionary trading, and churning (5/25/2022–5/25/2023). Settled for $41,850 on 11/29/2023.
  • Grove Point Investments, LLC: Customer alleged discretionary trading in inappropriate stocks relative to the client’s risk tolerance (1/17/2023–5/25/2023). Settled for $30,000 (10/12/2023).
  • CUSO Financial Services, L.P.: Customers alleged an incorrect explanation of a GMWB rider on a variable annuity purchased in 9/2020,. Settled for $38,955. (5/21/2024).

Terminated 11/28/2023 by Grove Point Investments, LLC following an investigation which revealed excessive commissions and unapproved discretionary trading.
