Did You Lose Money with Timothy Claypool?

FINRA initiated an enforcement action in May 2023 (Case No. 2021073166102) alleging that Mr. Claypool failed to respond to FINRA requests for information. After a suspension notice, he did not request termination of the suspension within three months; as a result, FINRA barred him on August 28, 2023 from association with any FINRA member in all capacities.

In 2021 Tim Claypool was “permitted to resign” from Northwestern Mutual Investment Services while under review for potential unsuitable sales activity related to a variable annuity contract and potentially unsuitable and/or discretionary investment account trades in violation of firm policy, for the purpose of generating commissions. The internal review also identified that Claypool was involved in referring a customer to participate in a passive investment.

Outstanding Civil Judgment/Lien: $8,613 (Discover Bank), filed 08/15/2016, Randall JP Court 4, Amarillo, Texas — currently outstanding.
