The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filed a civil action in April 2023 in the Southern District of Florida (Case No. 0:23-cv-60715) alleging that Moon—through Increase Financial Strategies LLC and Faith Financial Strategies—provided unregistered brokerage and advisory services, made misstatements about his registrations, accessed client logins and traded in at least 18 brokerage accounts for nine investors, and caused about $31,800 in trading losses while collecting $3,000 in fees. A Final Judgment entered May 8, 2023 imposed disgorgement of $3,000, prejudgment interest of $158, and a civil penalty of $31,080, with installment payments ordered. Separately, on May 18, 2023, the SEC instituted administrative proceedings and barred Moon from association with any broker, dealer, or investment adviser and from penny-stock offerings.
Moon also discloses a FINRA bar effective January 18, 2022 for failure to respond to FINRA information requests.
A customer dispute in 2022 at NYLIFE Securities was tied to stock and cryptocurrency trading; the matter was settled for $15,781 in 2023.
