The Dallas Morning News reports that Justin Spearman, 27, of Winter Park, Florida, has been charged in the Eastern District of Texas with wire fraud in connection with an oil & gas Ponzi scheme.
Spearman, a graduate of Baylor University, told potential investors that he was a petroleum landman/broker operating at Justin T. Spearman Petroleum Land Services in Midland, Texas, but a potential investor contacted the FBI and tipped them off.
Spearman, who lived in a 7,000 square foot mansion in Winter Park, FL, faces a $1.7 million judgement in Orange County FL , in a civil fraud case brought by a Florida victim. According to press reports, Spearman left central Florida after lawsuits were filed and then tried to reinvent himself in Palm Beach, North Carolina and then Texas.
