Robin Platt Investigation
November 2021-Covington, LA
According to FINRA records Robin V. Platt, a financial advisor employed as a registered broker by Hancock Whitney Investment Services discloses a multi-million dollar suit by a customer involving an off shore annuity.
The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) is the agency that licenses and regulates stockbrokers and brokerage firms. FINRA requires brokers and brokerage firms to report customer complaints and disputes as well as regulatory sanctions. In addition brokers are required to disclose certain financial matters such as personal bankruptcies, judgments and liens.
In 4/2021, a customer of Hancock Whitney filed FINRA Case 21-1108 alleging that Northstar annuities recommended in 2016 by Platt were unsuitable and that information about the investment was misrepresented. The customer seeks damages of between $1MM-$5MM in this currently pending matter.
In 6/2017 a customer of RBC Capital Markets, Platt’s prior employer, made a claim for $50,000 alleging that Platt misrepresented the income that would be produced on a variable annuity. That claim was denied by the company and the customer did not pursuit it further.
Platt also discloses the filing of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the US Bankruptcy Court Eastern District of Louisiana that was discharged in 9/2013.
Platt has been employed by Hancock Whitney Investment Services since 5/2013.
